Eye Candy For Your Tellybox

Who are we?

Streetmonkey is Northern Ireland's leading production house. We produce motion graphics and live action products for a number of markets, and have completed more than a thousand jobs for national and local clients. Our work has been recognised by more than twenty national and local industry awards. In March 2007's PANI Awards, we were voted Best Production House in Northern Ireland by a panel of London-based judges.

The story so far.

Streetmonkey was formed in 2002 by Dermot Faloon, Mark Mearns, Micky O'Neill and Ian Patton. From modest beginnings in the Art Tank Gallery on the Lisburn Road, we rapidly expanded and moved our base of operations to the Cotton Court building, at the centre of Belfast's booming Cathedral Quarter. Streetmonkey is now owned and run by the three founding members, Mark Mearns, Ian Patton and Dermot Faloon. In addition to a core team of six creative staff, we regularly utilise the skills of trusted freelance specialists on a per-project basis. These include camera crew, directors, sound engineers, electricians, production assistants, art directors and make-up artists. Our office has been known to double in staff when large live action shoots are in progress.

Dermot Faloon

Dermot graduated from the University of Ulster at Belfast with a B.A. (Hons) in Visual Communication and a Higher National Diploma in Design Communication. After various key roles within the industry, he helped form Streetmonkey in 2002. Dermot is a member of the Visual Communication advisory board at the University of Ulster. Dermot is the company's technical wizard. He's right up-to-date on the latest software and hardware specs. If a problem can be fixed by a piece of kit, Dermot knows what we need without having to Google it. He's also right on top of audio solutions, even though various sub-genres of metal can occasionally be heard blasting from his ipod headphones. He spends some of his free time, when his two children are actually sleeping, engaged in online slaying on his XBOX 360. Challenge him: his gamer tag is below.

Andrew Keil

Andy has a B.A. (Hons) in Media Studies from the University of Ulster, and also completed the university's foundation course in Art & Design. He started his career as a cameraman, working on several series for BBC Northern Ireland before switching to editing, lured by the promise of comfy chairs and endless supplies of tea. He is a Certified Final Cut Pro-user to Level 2 standard. Andy lives in constant fear of a zombie uprising, so much so that he has mapped out escape routes from his flat showing the quickest way to the nearest mall. He also has a penchant for 80's stadium rock and has been listening to a lot of Van Halen recently. Like Dermot, he loves his XBOX 360, although he's too scared to go online because he doesn't like it when twelve-year-old Americans swear at him.

Ian Lawrence

Ian graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Graphic and Interactive Design from the University of Ulster. His first job was as a multimedia designer in New Creation Design Belfast, and he joined Streetmonkey in 2004. From 3D character animation to all aspects of motion graphic design, Ian can do it all. He spends an unusual amount of time buying and selling expensive cameras on eBay. Sometimes he even takes the odd photograph. You can see some of these on his personal web site, http://www.shamhead.com

Mark Mearns

Mark is the Producer and first point of contact within Streetmonkey. His qualifications include a Diploma in Media and Journalism and a B.A. (Hons) in International Business Studies (which involved extended study in four countries). Mark has worked with both Ian Patton and Dermot Faloon in two previous companies before becoming a Streetmonkey founding partner. Anything "eighties Americana" is usually okay with Mark. Eighties retro-gifts will please the most. Take note.

Graham Mooring

Graham graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) in Visual Communication from the University of Ulster and a Higher National Diploma in Design Communication. He specialises in motion graphics and 3D character animation. He also plays a number of musical instruments including the bouzouki (we don't know what it is either).

Ian Patton

Ian graduated from the University of Ulster at Belfast with a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art, specialising in creepy sculptures and experimental computer animation. He spent the following years freelancing in both magazine and advertising design, and was the original designer of Blank, Northern Ireland's first locally-produced music magazine. Next came Synergy Centres Ltd, where he worked as a New Media Designer. He was soon promoted to the position of Senior Web Designer before transferring to Molten TV, Synergy's dedicated motion graphics facility. He became a founding partner of Streetmonkey in 2002. Outside work, Ian is curiously unembarrassed by his sci-fi nerd status. He does outdoors-type things too: he's a key member of the hiking group Out & About, he's surprisingly good at skiing, and is a member of the Mountaineering Council of Ireland. Why it took him six attempts to pass his driving test remains something of a mystery.

Ian too has succumbed to the seductions of the XBOX 360. His gamertag is below.
